Join the club!

I always liked my teachers, and I was in a lot of after-school projects. I was a Girl Scout until my senior year, when I couldn't be a Girl Scout anymore. I was in clubs like Junior Achievement, and I ran track and field. My grades were good, but then toward 11th grade they were nothing. I always went to summer school. – Amy Sedaris

Clubs, networks and organizations go far beyond the social eco-system of high school.  Clubs – good or bad – can serve the community as well our need to be in charge.  That’s where comes in.  We’re here to help you find the perfect custom t-shirt for your club, organization or just group of great friends.  You didn’t choose the responsibility, it chose you!  And why not?  You’re fashion is always on trend, your workout clothes are borderline “sorority wear” and even your pajamas highlight your greatest attributes (not that they would know.)

So here you are, designing custom apparel, like Zack Posen for SJP.  Like Posen, you must keep in mind what the client (i.e. your lady friends) will wear and what will sell.  Don’t underestimate the retail factor.  If you do your job right – everyone will want a shirt – thereby, boosting you popularity as well as the club’s bank account.

Take stock of the various reasons people joined your organization:

-          Networking: You will have the opportunity to meet and network with other people with similar interests.

-           Volunteerism: For philanthropic reasons

-           Socializing: It’s a great way to meet great people and have a lot of fun

-           Extracurricular: Joining outside organizations look great on applications and resumes

-           Personal Growth: Working toward a singular cause with a group of people is an enriching experience.

Understand the different personalities of your “clientele” and the common bond shared:

-          Friendship: represented by the color pink and symbolized by Celtic knots to crossed arrows  yellow represents joy; blue represents integrity

-          Joy: is represented by yellow, happy faces and ancient sun drawings

-          Integrity: represented by dark blue,  come in the form of weights and scales or three interwoven circles

Retail sale – Design custom apparel with personality that everyone would be proud to wear:

-          Order in moderation because you don’t want to sit with inventory. offers rush orders AND bulk discounts.  Not to mention, you never know when a bonus coupon will be thrown your way.

-          Set the right price.  While you’re not in the Math Club, here’s a little arithmetic that makes cents . . . I mean sense:   Cost per shirt + labor & time + % donated to cause = retail markup
